Detailed information
This system has been developed since 2007 by Dr Hamish Steiner, a GP in rural NSW. He has been a GP in Cooma since 1994 and spends far too much time skiing and working with computers.
This system has been in use in a number of GP surgeries in Australia since 2007. It has been tested with both Vista and Windows XP windows 7x32 and x64 and windows 8 & 10.
Once the software is loaded it automatically runs when the computer is started.
The USB buttons have a small microprocessor in them and 3 lights. The button draw a small a amount of power from the computer, but as it uses LEDs which are very energy efficient the power used is minimal.
The system does not use TCP/IP rather UDP which is a more efficient network protocol and causes less data to travel over the network. The system is constantly checking that it is connected to other computers and updates the list of computers that are connected. If no other computers are visible on the network then the user is alerted by a red cross in the system tray indicating the system is not connecting.
We recommend that you download the software and trial it on your network before buying any Buttons from us. By doing this you can make sure the software works on your system and network.
As far as its possible to guarantee things, this software is virus free, however you should run a virus scanner over it before you run it just too make sure.
At present the system only works on local networks. With most systems it will not work for remote users.
